Two routes: the government quota or a paid contract

  1. Government quota: register onlineOn the official portal education-in-russia.com, choosing up to 6 universities in order of preference. For 2027-2028, universities state a deadline of 15 January 2027 for non-CIS countries.
  2. First selection in CameroonOrganised by Rossotrudnichestvo or the Russian Embassy (interview, tests), followed by a second selection by the universities.
  3. Or apply on a paid contractApply directly to the university, with tuition fees to pay.
  4. Invitation and visaThe university issues an official invitation; the study visa is then requested from the Russian Embassy in Yaoundé.
  5. Preparatory yearMost programmes taught in Russian begin with a year of Russian and general subjects (October to July at MISIS, for example).

  • Work: a full-time student at an accredited institution can work in their free time without a work permit (law in force since August 2020).

Scholarships open to Cameroonian students

The Russian Government quota is the main scholarship: it covers tuition, but not living costs.
