Study in Germany in 2027

University access, application, blocked account, visa appointment in Yaoundé and scholarships: the official procedure for Cameroonian students.

The steps, from admission to the visa

  1. Check access with your diplomaDepending on the diploma and grades, the baccalaureate or GCE A Level gives direct access to university or requires a Studienkolleg year followed by the Feststellungsprüfung exam. The DAAD admission database and the target university confirm this.
  2. LanguageUsually B2 German for a programme taught in German; international programmes taught in English require an English test.
  3. ApplyDirectly to the university or through uni-assist, depending on the institution (€75 for the first application, €30 for each further one in the same semester).
  4. Open a blocked account€11,904 for one year in 2026, i.e. €992 a month.
  5. Register for a visa appointmentAt the German Embassy in Yaoundé, only through the German Foreign Office’s appointment system, on a waiting list. Registration is free, one per person; paying an intermediary does not speed anything up. You can also apply on the online portal (Auslandsportal).
  6. Arrive and settle inRegister your address, then apply for the residence permit at the city’s foreigners’ office (for example €100 in Berlin).
Join the waiting list early. The embassy reports a wait of more than a year for the “studies, standard case with admission” category. For a 2027 intake, register now.
