Healthcare training visa: Germany and France
Healthcare professions are hiring in Europe. We help you secure a training place in Germany or France, and the visa that goes with it.
- B2 levelGerman required for Germany
- Paid trainingin Germany
- Contract or admissionbefore the visa

Two countries, two approaches
In Germany, training is a work-study contract. In France, it is an admission to a training institute.
Germany: the Ausbildung
Vocational work-study training, usually lasting three years, split between a school and a care facility (hospital, care home). You are paid throughout the training.
- Target professions: nurse (Pflegefachfrau, Pflegefachmann), nursing assistant and other care professions
- Training contract signed with a facility before the visa application
- German level B2 required
- Vocational training visa
France: training institutes
Admission to a healthcare training institute, depending on your education and plans: nursing assistant, childcare assistant or nurse, among others.
- Selection on application and often an interview
- Good French is essential
- Long-stay student visa after admission
- Funding for the training and stay to plan
The steps
For Germany, allow 9 to 18 months depending on your starting level of German. For France, the timeline follows the institutes’ selection calendar.

Your questions
More questions? See the frequently asked questions or ask them during the call.
Do I need prior healthcare experience?
No, it is not required to start training. Even short experience (an internship, volunteering) does, however, clearly strengthen your application.
How much do you earn during the Ausbildung?
Pay is set by the training contract and rises every year. It usually covers a large share of living costs; we give you the current amounts when you start your project.
I am already a qualified nurse. What should I do?
Your case is more about diploma recognition than full training. Let’s discuss it during the call: the procedure is different.
Can I work after the training?
In Germany, completing the training gives access to a residence permit to work in your profession. The care sector is short-staffed and hiring after training is common.
